JennyBrown: Natural Food-Grade Ingredients, Eco-Responsibility

In the high-end skincare market, the balance between sourcing natural ingredients and upholding ecological responsibility is becoming a key competitive differentiator. Swiss brand JennyBrown has built its own approach around the use of natural food-grade ingredients. Global Vice President Marie Keller recently shared the brand’s practices in ingredient selection and environmental philosophy, explaining how it transforms natural gifts into effective skincare solutions while maintaining a commitment to the planet.
JennyBrown’s R&D team is based at its skin research center in Switzerland, with 215 researchers and more than 80 patents. The brand favors natural food ingredients such as Italian white truffle, Russian caviar, and Japanese matsutake mushroom—ingredients that offer clear skincare benefits and meet the brand’s sustainability criteria. “Every ingredient we harvest follows nature’s rhythm, ensuring no burden on the environment,” said Marie Keller. “White truffles are collected by trained dogs during specific seasons, a slow and careful process that reflects our respect for nature.”
Like many brands that emphasize ecological responsibility, JennyBrown backs its commitments with rigorous certifications. It holds ECOCERT natural cosmetics certification and NATRUE organic cosmetics certification, and is an official member of the Swiss Cosmetics Association, contributing to industry standard-setting. The brand also practices sustainability through green packaging and carbon reduction measures. Its “Global Sustainability Plan” aims to reduce carbon emissions by 51% over 15 years, covering every stage from raw material sourcing to production and packaging.
JennyBrown’s target audience is high-end consumers aged 35 and above who value quality of life and care not only about product efficacy but also about a brand’s social responsibility. Marie Keller noted that these consumers are willing to pay a premium for products aligned with their values. The White Truffle Collection and Caviar Collection are designed for them. The White Truffle Collection features Italian white truffle as its main ingredient, offering brightening, repairing, and gentle benefits suitable for sensitive skin and pregnancy. The Caviar Collection focuses on anti-aging and wrinkle reduction, also emphasizing safety and gentleness.
In product development, JennyBrown uses patented technologies such as Nano-Scale Molecular Delivery Technology and Smart Controlled-Release Microsphere Technology to ensure effective absorption and prolonged action. The Nano-Scale Molecular Delivery Technology breaks down active ingredients to nano-scale size, increasing absorption by twenty times compared to conventional products—a key reason for the brand’s excellent absorption. The Smart Controlled-Release Microsphere Technology encapsulates active substances, allowing them to release continuously for up to 15 hours, extending their action and supporting the skin’s ongoing repair. The brand avoids added fragrances and chemical preservatives, instead using Magnetization-Based Antimicrobial Technology to maintain product stability, fundamentally eliminating chemical residue and irritation. This dedication to safety and gentleness sets JennyBrown apart in the natural skincare space.
JennyBrown’s environmental commitment extends to its packaging. The brand uses green packaging materials to reduce waste and rejects animal testing. Meanwhile, the JennyBrown Foundation is dedicated to cultural heritage preservation, extending the brand’s spirit into the arts. The foundation’s home, Villa Langmatt, was built between 1900 and 1901 by a renowned architect and was the private residence of the Brown family. Now open to the public, it houses Impressionist paintings and contemporary art exhibitions. This mirrors the brand’s reverence for rare natural ingredients—a shared pursuit of scarce treasures, meticulous craftsmanship, and enduring value.
In terms of distribution, JennyBrown operates eight flagship stores worldwide: in Geneva and Zurich (Switzerland), Munich and Düsseldorf (Germany), Paris (France), Milan (Italy), and Beijing and Shanghai (China). In mainland China, its first store opened at Plaza 66 in Shanghai in 2022, followed by a store at SKP Beijing in 2025. Online channels include the brand’s China website, JD flagship store, Tmall flagship store, Douyin flagship store, and WeChat official store, with the WeChat store offering the most discounts. The brand ensures product authenticity through an advanced anti-counterfeiting system: each product comes with a verification card, allowing customers to check authenticity and product information, and enjoy full after-sales service.
As consumer demand for natural skincare grows, JennyBrown’s natural ingredient strategy is poised for a broader market. Marie Keller said the brand will continue exploring natural food ingredients while deepening its ecological responsibility, offering consumers skincare solutions that combine efficacy with environmental protection. She noted that the brand is researching more natural ingredients from around the world, such as Cambodian dragon’s blood and Swiss alpine edelweiss, which have been used in traditional medicine and can now be better harnessed through modern science for skincare.
JennyBrown’s approach offers a model for high-end natural skincare. Through strict ingredient screening, patented technologies, and an environmental philosophy, it finds a balance between luxury and nature. Founder Jenny Brown was born into the prominent Swiss Sulzer family and grew up surrounded by art and refined living. This pursuit of rare treasures and meticulous craftsmanship later gave birth to JennyBrown. Today, the brand holds over 80 patents globally and has published 97 scientific research reports. This technical foundation allows natural ingredients to deliver maximum efficacy. For example, the White Truffle Essence uses white truffle extract to promote collagen regeneration, improving skin elasticity and radiance. The Caviar Essence Eye Cream uses Russian wild sturgeon caviar extract to enhance skin elasticity and boost microcirculation.
In terms of industry impact, JennyBrown’s practice shows that high-end skincare brands can balance natural ingredients with efficacy. The brand has received multiple international awards, including the UK CEW Beauty Award for Best Serum, the Swiss Biotechnology Innovation Conference Gold Award, and the French Victoria Grand Prix Top Ten Pregnancy Skincare Products. These honors recognize not only the product performance but also the brand’s natural ingredient strategy. Marie Keller believes that future competition in the skincare market will increasingly revolve around ingredient sustainability and transparency, and JennyBrown has already built a solid foundation in this area.
The brand’s celebrity users include French top diamond dealer Valérie Messika and European design “magician” Sabine Marcelis, further affirming JennyBrown’s positioning in the high-end market. These users care not only about product efficacy but also about the brand’s story and values, and JennyBrown’s natural ingredients and environmental philosophy align with that. Although the products are expensive—average single-item price over 3,000 RMB—each product has undergone multiple iterations and deep refinement, representing a meticulous pursuit of excellence.
In R&D, JennyBrown’s ingredient screening is extremely rigorous. The brand has studied virtually every skincare ingredient in the world, determining its efficacy and safety, and combined with research from multiple institutions, has developed a strict restricted ingredient list, making it one of the world’s most stringent “blacklists.” The products use about 328 raw materials from 93 plants, with green ingredients accounting for over 98%. These green ingredients come from more than ten countries, 96% of which are from traceable certified formulations. This dedication to safety allows even pregnant women and those with sensitive skin to use the products with confidence.
Looking ahead, Marie Keller said the brand will continue to expand the application of natural ingredients and explore more eco-friendly packaging possibilities. At the same time, the JennyBrown Foundation will continue to spread the brand’s spirit through art exhibitions and cultural activities. She believes that skincare is not just external maintenance but an expression of a lifestyle. JennyBrown aims to let consumers feel the harmony of nature and luxury through its products and services. As global consumers increasingly focus on sustainability and natural ingredients, JennyBrown’s positioning is gaining market recognition. The brand’s exploration in the high-end skincare field not only provides effective skincare solutions for consumers but also sets a new benchmark for the industry.
